Chapter 6:
CREATING PROFESSIONAL SPLASH AND SQUEEZE PAGES
In a previous chapter I mentioned the absolute
critical concept of branding yourself as a responsible reputable and
legitimate Internet Marketer. Splash and Squeeze pages are where the rubber hits the road.
To draw a distinction between the two is difficult and is best
explained by using some live examples as used by the quality program
called TRAFFIC EXCHANGE PROFITS run by Scott Douglas Take a look at these two
pages here
Notice two things about both of them. The simplicity of the
message and the requirement to click each page for more information. Both
splash pages fulfill their duty. They create curiosity and interest and, by
asking the surfer to click for more information, they open in a new window so the
surfer can keep surfing while he/ she examines the more information provided in
the new window. What does this new information provide?
Let's take a look by going to Scott's squeeze pages
here for Splash
page 1 and
here
for Splash Page 2
Scott still doesn't give the game entirely away. He simply
provides enough information to make the reader want to get to the bottom of this
new system and the only way to get that is to order the report by providing
your email address.
Scott then dutifully provides you with the report and then,
through a series of emails gives you further instructions on the intricacies of
Traffic Exchanges and how they work. He can also, if he so wishes, provide
further follow up via email in relation to any new products and/or services that
he thinks may suit his readers.
Neat huh?
In fact Scott's system is one of the very best that I've
seen - and I highly recommend it, but I don't recommend that you promote it or
(my program for that matter) on a Traffic Exchange. Do you know why?
If you've surfed for any length of time on Traffic
Exchanges you will have seen both Scott's and my program promoted online by
eager surfers who have almost got the whole story, but they've missed a really
important part.
While they are busy promoting the splash and squeeze pages
designed by both Scott and myself, they are branding the programs themselves and
competing with hundreds of other surfers doing exactly the same thing. The
chances are that the casual surfer may see the same splash page eight to ten
times (Tim Linden at StartXchange claims the number is much higher) before being
sufficiently motivated to take any action at all - and then what happens? They
may have seen your page twice, mine three times , Scott's once and Fred's twice.
They can't distinguish between which link they've seen. They can only take the
action when they choose to, and all of the people advertising the program
are in a giant lottery as to who gets the lead and sales that may follow.
It is absolutely critical that you understand this.
Promoting other people's squeeze and splash pages, no matter how well designed
or intentioned is akin to buying a lottery ticket and the odds of success are
pretty similar.
So let's be perfectly clear. At the very minimum you need
to design your own splash pages and you really should be designing your own
squeeze pages.
Splash pages can be very simple - I've seen all sorts of
wacky gimmicks that have worked for a little while, but the key element of a
splash page is the headline. Go back and take a look at both splash pages note
the simplicity of the message and how targeted they are at the Traffic exchange
user and it's the simplicity that makes them work.
They don't even need fancy graphics - take a look at this
very basic squeeze page that I used for a while a year or so back.
Basic Splash.
It's rough and ready but it worked quite well. So to create a basic splash page
you need very little. To see exactly how easy it has become watch this video
The tool I use in this video is INSTANT SPLASH and you can create simple readable and brandable splash pages in literally seconds. For more detailed splash pages and graphics, you may want to take a look at
ADKREATOR. Both are free to use, although to get the full benefit from each program you may like to consider their upgrade options.
Make no mistake Adkreator is the world champion splash and squeeze page creator .
Adkreator is a complete one stop shop for banners, splash pages, squeeze pages , and it very easy to insert auto responder and video.... plus the have a heap of ready made FREE click bank products people can just add their click bank id and be in business in second. If you can afford the monthly fee of $20 this is my absolute recommendation to you - it really can create every form of add - banner, splas and most importantly squeeze pages.
So a splash page should redirect to a squeeze page.
A squeeze page should do one thing. Create sufficient
interest for the viewer to seek more information
There are a number of pieces that go into creating a good squeeze page.
Probably the most important is the layout of the page. Creating a good
template for your squeeze page and testing and tweaking it can take
quite a bit of time. All of the time you spend doing that will
cost you subscribers as you work to get your squeeze page converting
properly. After all if only 2% of your visitors sign up instead of 20%
you have lost quite a few chances to get people to return.
That is one of the big advantages of using the tested templates offered
by Instant Squeeze Page Generators.
No
learning curve to cost you subscribers.
Check it out at
here – it costs nothing to join and when you combine it with a
pre-written email series, you are on the road to success.
I find that by copying the code generated at Instant Squeeze
Pages and then pasting it back into my free website
editor at Trellian web page, I can personalize and format my
squeeze page exactly the way I want it. And I then
host it on my own site.
You can see how I do that by going straight to this
video here

Of course the whole function of using a squeeze page
is to capture the client's email address. Because you want to
build up a list of interested willing subscribers and that is the
tricky part.
As a first step in understanding how to treat email
subscribers I highly recommend Michael Rasmussen's Email Promo's
Exposed. Again you can access the training series free by clicking
