Chapter 4:
UNDERSTANDING THE TRAFFIC EXCHANGE MARKET


 


 

There's an old saying in business that says that there is no point in trying to sell ice to Eskimos.  There is another even more pertinent one that says that you must know your market.

What type of person uses Traffic Exchanges?

Internet Marketers - pure and simple.

What are they doing?

Advertising

Why are they doing it?

They want to grow their Internet Marketing business.

So why on earth would they be interested in dog training or watches or even weight loss? Why indeed would they have the slightest interest in your business opportunity?  They've already got theirs and they're furiously clicking away trying to promote it.

And in 95% of cases they are failing miserably.

The reasons for this are many, but I guarantee that many of them got into Traffic Exchange advertising, or any other form of Internet marketing advertising for that matter because they purchased or joined some over hyped program from someone equally as green who suggested that they use Traffic Exchanges to advertise their product.  They didn't tell them how or why. They just said do it. So they've been clicking away frantically and NOTHING IS HAPPENING! You can bet they're getting frustrated and they're confused because they can see heaps of other  people are advertising the same over-hyped piece of garbage that they are - so they know someone is buying but they're just not buying from them.  Typically the level of support from the person who sold them this whizz bang product will be "try harder, surf more, post ads here...." or something equally as helpful (not).

So pretty soon you have someone who is a) frustrated b) feeling just a little let down by the program and the Traffic Exchange industry and c) kind of foolish for getting into this game in the first place.

That's where you come in.  A well targeted splash or squeeze page aimed right at that person will get them seeking more information from you.

Of course you need to be able to back up your promise with quality information and advice or you'll disenchant them even further, but by giving them good advice, offering to respond to their queries and by generally being helpful and attentive to their needs, you will earn a loyal and satisfied subscriber - a subscriber who can and most probably will turn into a customer when you recommend quality products and services.

Services like ad-tracking, advertising methods, informational products and the occasional quality program that you are a member of....

One program that grasps this concept better than just about anybody else is Scott Douglass' Traffic Exchange Profits. TEP provides an excellent nuts and bolts plan that can be applied to any product or service across any channel.

TEP is by and large aimed at Traffic Exchange  and Safelist users but its key principles can be applied anywhere.

and.... here's a really funny thing that nobody ever seems to mention.

There are all these MLM programs offering residual commission on dubious products and services when the easiest way to build residual income is to recommend pro advertising services - advertising services that pay you handsome commissions.

Take a look at the commissions available for Pro members at Traffic Splash for example. Then head on over to THUMB VU and see what they offer. Then Traffic Swarm and finally List Joe

They're all different and they all make me money - they can make money for you too.

These are all advertising programs that reward you handsomely for referring other people to their advertising business - and I haven't even started on the programs that pay you to refer free members.

What could be easier then advertising quality advertising to advertisers - provided you can show them how and what to advertise?

Why do you need to beat your head up against a wall trying to get people to join some mythical forced matrix program or dodgy one up program when the low hanging fruit of residual income is so close at hand?
